Ingram Micro India expands Vesta range

Priced at Rs 3,200, the Vesta-V-500 has an input voltage ranging from 160 VAC to 20 VAC and has an output of 230 VAC for single phase. The backup time is around 20 minutes and comes with alarms for AC failures and low battery, apart from a backup on indicator.
As nearly 55 per cent of the Indian personal computers market is assembler-driven, Ingram Micro decided to launch its own branded products in addition to selling products of others last year. We felt there is a need and niche for quality components from the assembler segment and decided to leverage our power of volume scales, says Ingram Micro India chief operating officer N Y Prasad. The company first launched Vesta motherboard and added products like speakers, CD Rom drives, mouse, keyboards, cabinets and now the UPS.
"Though we sell UPS manufactured by TVS Electronics and APC there are segments that are not addressed by these companies," he says. "The company is targeting the single user/home and SME segments for its Vesta range of products."
The Vesta range contributes around 8 per cent of the Indian companys turnover, but Prasad refuses to divulge the figure. Within the Vesta range, the motherboard is selling in good numbers. We are in the middle segment. Above our Vesta brand is the original Intel boards and below is the stripped version. The failure rate of Vesta motherboards is less than 1 per cent, says Prasad.
