KEC International wins Rs339-crore orders from Afghanistan, Ethiopia

KEC International Ltd has announced that the company has secured new orders worth Rs339 crore from Afghanistan and Ethiopia.
From Afghanistan it has bagged two orders valued at Rs204 crore for supply and construction of 220KV double-circuit transmission lines from Kabul to Salang Tunnel over a distance of 95 km and from the Salang Tunnel to Phul-e-Khumri over a distance of 107 km
These transmission lines will provide electricity to Kabul city. The project would be executed over the next 36 months. The orders have been awarded by the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation has placed an order worth Rs135 crore for supply and construction of 400KV single circuit and 230KV double-circuit transmission line over 234km under the Gilgel Gibe II power transmission project. This transmission line would enable the transfer of hydropower from the Gilgel Gibe II hydro power plant.
This project is partly funded by the European Investment Bank.
The company has an order book position of Rs2,700 crore and is engaged in executing orders in Afghanistan, Abu Dhabi, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Oman, Zambia and Ethiopia.
