Kinetic Motor Company is gearing up to introduce seven popular models from the Italjet range from April 2005 onwards. Kinetic had earlier announced its entry into a special alliance with renowned Italian two-wheeler maker Italjet for modern scooters (See: Kinetic to launch seven international bestseller scooters from Italjet over the next two years).
Under this alliance, Kinetic has acquired complete manufacturing and distribution rights for the seven brands, which includes the right of sale in India as well as global exports. The seven scooters are expected to be launched in a phased manner. The brand portfolio comprises a variety of designs from retro, modern, futuristic to maxiscooters, from 75cc engine capacity onwards.
Fitted with the Nova's engine, some of these brands are undergoing trials in Pune.
Though the company is keeping its launch plans, including the time of launch, price, fuel efficiency and engine specifications tightly under wraps, it is expected that during the first phase the company will launch the sub-150cc models. Though one of the brands for launch has been identified as the sporty, 125cc-, 14.5 bhp Dragster, the other two brands are expected to be the Jupiter and the 150cc-Millennium
The other likely contender for an early launch could be the sleek 175cc-Jupiter which is expected to have a strong visual appeal among executive users of two-wheelers. These two two-wheelers are currently undergoing tests. What has been confirmed is that the company will change the names of the two-wheelers it introduces.
