Bangalore: Kingfisher Airlines, Air Deccan and Abu Dhabi-based Gulf Aircraft Maintenance (Gamco) are likely to team up in order to set up a MRO (maintenance, repair and overhauling) facility. According to sources, the facility is likely to come up at Bangalore, as the city is the hub for both airlines.

This would advance the current technical relationship that the two Indian carriers have with Gamco for the maintenance of their Airbus aircraft. The MRO facility may likely be established at a cost of between Rs200-400 crore.

According to market reports, Air Deccan and Kingfisher were earlier in talks with local outfit Jupiter Aviation for the setting up of a $100 million MRO facility in Bangalore. Negotiations, it would now appear, might have fallen through.
