LG and AT&T on Tuesday launched the first-ever LG smart phone to hit US soil, the LG Incite thus moving into the competitive touch-screen smart phone market dominated by the Apple iPhone 3G, and further shaken up by the Google Android based T-Mobile G1 and the Blackberry Storm.

LG InciteThe device, based on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, runs on AT&T's high-speed 3G network, both domestically and internationally, and offers built-in GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0. The Windows Mobile OS offers access to Microsoft Office Mobile and Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5. Also the first LG device to include Windows Media Player 10,  the Incite allows access to business and personal e-mail accounts through Microsoft Direct Push. It supports Microsoft's System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008, which lets companies manage and protect Windows Mobile 6.1 smart phones. Using the Device Manager, companies can provide mobile workers with software updates and applications over the air while also offering access to secured corporate data.

Its sleek and sophisticated design features a 3-inch touch screen and a 3.0-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities.  Additionally, there are two different on-screen virtual keyboards - one, a full QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode, the other a 20-key keyboard in portrait view - both of which offer haptic keys for vibration feedback.

It features various screen navigation modes, which lets people move through the interface with their fingertips literally using a scroll button on the upper right of the screen or a stylus. A configurable drag-and-drop favourite menu offers quick access to applications from the home screen.

For memory, the Incite includes a microSD memory port with up to 16 GB of support. It supports Bluetooth 2.0 and AT&T Video Share, which let users share live video over wireless devices while on a voice call.
