L&T Oman bags EPC contract worth $79.71 million

Leading engineering & construction major in Oman, Larsen & Toubro (Oman) LLC, the Oman-based subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has received two EPC contracts totalling $79.71 million (Rs315.20 crore), from Dhofar Power Company and Muscat Electricity Distribution Company for electrical substations and associated works in Oman.
Larsen & Toubro (Oman) LLC is a joint venture of Larsen & Toubro FZE and the Zubair Corporation and has been in operations for the last 14 years.
The contract from Dhofar Power, valued $47.16 million (Rs86.50 crore), will help strengthen the various transmission and distribution systems in Oman's agricultural Dhofar Region, in order to meet the growth in demand and new loads. It involves construction of new substation, modernisation and expansion of existing network and construction of associated overhead lines and cabling works.
The $32.55-million order from Muscat Electricity Distribution Company is for the construction of five 33/11.5 kV primary substations and associated cabling works at Al Hail North, Azaiba North, Al Mawaleh South, Qurum Heights and Al Amret Area. On completion of these substations, the growth demand and new loads within the Muscat area will be met.
Dhofar Power Company and Muscat Electricity Distribution Company are the major power distribution companies existing in Oman.
These projects will be executed by L&T's power transmission and distribution arms in Oman will be under the consultancy of Mott MacDonald & Energoprojekt Entel LLC.
Simultaneously, in Muscat, the Oman subsidiary has secured the prestigious Muscat Golf Course township development project valued at $110.37 million near the A1 Seeb International Airport.
This order includes the construction of 80 luxury villas, 25 three-floor apartments blocks, related building services, high and low voltage installations, external services; roads & culverts and perimeter fencing.
