L&T acquires Bangalore-based defence electronics research company

Engineering major Larsen & Toubro has entered into an agreement to acquire the whole of Spectrum Infotech Private Limited, a defence electronics and aerospace research company. Financial details of Spectrum Infotech and the cost of acquisition have not been disclosed.
Spectrum Infotech is a 10-year old company focusing on technology and product development in embedded computation, control and signal processing, for both hardware and software. It is currently engaged in design and development of prototype sub-systems and units. Its client list includes Hindustan Aeronautics, Bharat Electronics and major defence research laboratories.
L&T said the operations of Spectrum would be integrated with the company's Strategic Electronics Centre in Bangalore, focusing on defence electronics, avionics, and aerospace solutions. Spectrum's expertise complements the company's strengths in defence electronics and avionics with a focus on entire systems and weapon platforms, L&T added.
L&T is trading at Rs2,200 (down 1.37 per cent) at 02.55 PM on the NSE today.
