M&M slashes Logan prices

Mumbai: Within days of announcing that it would buy out its joint venture partner Renault under a restructuring plan for their 51:49 joint venture, Mahindra Renault Pvt Ltd, auto maker Mahindra & Mahindra has announced its decision to slash the prices of the former JV's flagship car, Logan.
M&M today said, it would slash ex-showroom Delhi prices of the BS III engine variant between Rs27,000 and Rs Rs 80,000 and for the BS IV between Rs24,000 and Rs65,000.
The new prices will apply from Monday, 26 April 2010.
Announcing the new prices, Rajesh Jejurikar, chief executive, automotive division, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, ''All the significant features of the Logan are now available at a much more affordable price. We would now like the pricing to make us more aggressive in the market. Mahindra remains committed to our customers and to the success of the Logan''.
"After Renault's stake divestment to partner M&M, Mahindra will be responsible for the manufacturing, sales and service of the Logan in India which also implies relevant changes from the engineering point of view, in keeping with customer requirements," M&M said in a statement.
