Mahindra enters motorcycle market with two 110 cc models

Mahindra 2 Wheelers Ltd today unveiled two 110 cc motorcyle models, marking its re entry in the motorcycle segment.
In September 2010, Mahindra 2 Wheelers had debuted into the bike segment with Stallio, a model that was withdrawn later in 2011 following a gearbox glitch.
Mahindra 2 Wheelers unveiled the two motorcycle models - Centuro and Pantero - at a function last evening.
"Pantero should be out in the next couple of weeks and Centuro a few weeks thereafter," Anoop Mathur, president - two wheeler sector and a board member of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, said.
Mathur added, ''We at Mahindra, have stated our strategic intent of being a significant player in the two wheeler industry, by being a `Customer Inspired Technology' company. "
The two models, powered by the MCi-5 engine manufactured at the company's Pithampur facility in Madhya Pradesh, were completely designed in-house at the Mahindra R&D Centre in Pune within a period of 18 months, Mathur said. He, however, did not disclose the prices of the two models.
