Maruti Suzuki May sales rise nearly 14%

Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 114,825 units in May 2015, recording a growth of 13.8 per cent year-on-year. The company sold 102,359 units in the domestic market and exported 12,466 units.
Maruti Suzuki had sold a total of 100,925 units in May 2014.
Domestic sales of the country's largest automaker rose 13 per cent in May 2015 while its exports for the month were up over 20 per cent year-on-year.
The mid-sized segment comprising of Ciaz and SX4 saw the highest year-on-year growth during the month at over 4,000 per cent mainly on the back of the Ciaz launch in October 2014.
The mini segment that includes Alto and WagonR saw a growth of over 20 per cent during the month, while the compact segment, comprising Swift, Ritz, Celerio and Dzire saw a nearly 6 per cent fall in sales.
Maruti Suzuki stock was trading over 1.5 per cent up at Rs58.55 at 11.30 am, outperforming the broader Nifty and the Sensex, which were trading 0.35 per cent up. Maruti Suzuki outperformed the auto indices which were trading in the red.
