John McAfee creator or antivirus software sues Intel for right to use his name

John McAfee, the creator of the antivirus computer software system is suing Intel Corp for the right to use his name after he sold his company to the chip maker, Bloomberg reported.
After it bought McAfee in 2010, Intel later renamed it, ''Intel Security.'' Meanwhile McAfee joined digital gaming company MGT Capital Investments Inc as chairman and chief executive, and plans to rename the company ''John McAfee Global Technologies Inc.''
McAfee said he was warned by Intel that any use of his name would infringe on the company's trademarks that it acquired with the McAfee deal in 2010, according to his complaint filed Friday in Manhattan federal court.
Intel counsel Kerry Smith wrote to McAfee, ''any use of the McAfee name would be likely to dilute the McAfee mark … by reducing its unique association with McAfee and Intel Corporation'', The Register reported.
Smith's letter to McAfee-the-man added that ''through extensive use, the McAfee trademark is a strong mark and extremely well-known in the industry''.
