Mercedes Benz launches off-roader G 55 AMG in India

German auto manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz has launched the G 55 AMG off roader in India at Rs1.1 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai).
G 55 AMG is equipped with a 5.5-litre V8-engine that produces 373 kW / 507hp and a maximum torque of 700 Nm. The company says the G-Wagen can accelerate from zero to 100 km/hr in 5.5 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 210km/hr.
G-Wagen, which is short for the Geländewagen that stands for cross country vehicle in German, will be shipped to India as a completely built unit.
''At an aggressive price point of Rs1.10 crore, the iconic G-Class has received significant interest from customers who want highest capabilities from their luxury SUV,'' said Debashis Mitra, director, sales and marketing of Mercedes-Benz India.
On the design front, the G 55 AMG sports titanium grey 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels, radiator grille with three prominent horizontal louvers, flared AMG wings, two oval chrome-plated tailpipes, which add to the SUV's sporty look.
Mercedes has already received 14 orders for the G-Wagen from India.
Globally, Mercedes Benz has sold 200,000 units of the G-Class, which has been around for the last three decades.
