Update makes sharing content on Skype for iOS easier
16 Dec 2015
Microsoft has updated the official iPhone and iPad apps of Skype with an improvement that is aimed at making sharing content on the popular video chat and voice call service easier.
Essentially, Skype for iOS had been updated with its very own, long-overdue share extension on iOS. The share extension would allow users to share content from other apps quickly and easily on Skype and in a manner that was native to Apple's mobile operating system.
However, first one needed to set it up before one could use it. To enable Skype's share extension, users need to tap the upper `More' button on the iOS share sheet and switch on Skype in the list of activities.
With this done, one can share links, photos, and more on Skype by just tapping the Skype share button, selecting the contact one wanted to share with, and tapping Send. There is no need to open the Skype app itself.
According to the Skype team, the update was perfect for sharing photos from one's ''office party or present ideas with family members without the hassle of sending the content in an email.''
Meanwhile, with the latest update from Instagram, Android fans can now imitate the 3D Touch feature that was earlier available to only iOS users with an iPhone 6S. Users would really not get a pressure-sensitive touch screen, but holding their finger on the screen for an extended period of time will yield the same result when using the Instagram app. Users could now "peek" at photos by bringing up the photo quickly without opening it full-scale.
