Price cuts enable Maruti 800 to sell 20,687 units in March 2003

Chennai: The reduction in excise duty and the subsequent price cuts have resulted in surging sales of Maruti 800, India’s first small car.

In March 2003 Maruti Udyog sold 20,687 units of that model. According to the company, between August 2002 and February 2003, the Maruti 800 was averaging 12,677 units per month.
