Maruti to set up world class driving schools

Maruti Udyog has announced that it is setting up world class Maruti Driving Schools in partnership with Maruti dealerships, which will operate and manage the schools. The focus of the schools would be to inculcate safe driving habits.

The driving schools are modeled on international lines, where learners will get classroom training, practical training and training in attitude and road behavior, as per international practice.

Maruti has set up three pilot Maruti Driving Schools so far in Bangalore, Kollam and Chandigarh each.

The company says it will incorporate the learnings from the experience of these pilot schools into the new schools it is setting up.

According to the company the initiative is a self-sustaining activity for the company and making additional profits is not the objective.

To ensure world class status the driving schools are equipped with sophisticated simulators, to enable learners to familiarise themselves with the controls of the car before they take the actual vehicle on the road. These will also simulate various road and weather conditions like fog, dim light, uphill and downhill terrain, to provide comprehensive training to learners.

Specially trained and groomed instructors, both male and female, will impart training in a hi-tech, air-conditioned environment at Maruti Driving Schools, using premium Maruti air-conditioned cars.

Furthermore, each driving instructor is intensively trained for a fortnight at the Institute of Driving Training & Research (IDTR), Delhi. The maruti driving schools will also offer a standard learning package for beginners, there will also be the flexibility of additional learning modules so that learners can design a curriculum of their choice.
