Maruti to hike Swift production
By Our Corporate Bureau | 31 Oct 2005
Chennai: Car market leader Maruti Udyog Limited will roll out 6,500 units of its Swift model from November 2005 onwards. This is 1,500 units more than the current production at the company's factory. The production increase is expected not only to reduce the waiting time for the model but also prevent customers from going to competition.
Maruti has sold over 27,000 units of Swift since its launch five months ago. Following the overwhelming response to the model, the company had to go in for expansion of capacity. The process of expanding capacity, both within its own factory and at the facilities of the suppliers, has now been completed.
Meanwhile Maruti is planning to set up 15 world-class Maruti Driving Schools across the country, this year. These will be in addition to the three schools set up by the company last fiscal.
