Mumbai: Microsoft India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka government to usher in ''paperless office'' by introducing e-governance in various departments of the state government.

Microsoft will undertake a pilot project on paperless functioning in the IT-BT department of the state government. The project is expected to be completed by next week, chief minister Kumaraswamy said.

The project would be extended to other departments subsequently. There would be no financial cost involved in implementation of the project, he added.
