Global board for NIIT

NIIT plans to have a ''global board'', as part of its globalisation strategy. The software and IT training major plans to step up its growth in its overseas operation as part of its globalisation drive.
NIIT is planning to launch e-commerce based software products and solutions to enhance its globalisation strategy. For this, each of its overseas operation acts as a local company with a global reach and be as close to the customer as possible.
The next phase of its globalisation drive would bring in directors on its board, who are close to its customers in important cities. This ''global board'' will be helped by its experience in teleconferencing, internet and virtual teams. Two of the five fulltime directors are based outside India.
The globalisation effort is already underway and one of its five working board member, Gopal Chakravarthy, is stationed in Europe while its co founder and COO, Vijay K Thadani, is based in Atlanta, USA.
NIIT''s first subsidiary was started in 1992 in the US and its global revenues have been growing. It had a revenue of Rs 633 crore with about half of it coming from global operations which spreads over 30 countries.
