ONGC Petro-additions ties up power supply with Torrent Energy

ONGC Petro-additions Limited (OPaL) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Gujarat-based Torrent Energy Limited, under which Torrent will supply the ONGC-promoted petrochemicals firm 350-400 MW Power at Dahej, Gujarat.
ONGC Petro-additions Ltd. Has set up a petrochemicals complex at Dahej. The government of Gujarat has already designated Torrent Power Limited as co-developer for generation and distribution of power in Dahej SEZ and Torrent Power has incorporated Torrent Energy to implement a 1500 MW LNG/Gas-based power plant.
Torrent Energy will set up a Gas-based power plant at Dahej Special Economic Zone (DSEZ) in the first phase of the project, to be commissioned by 2011-12.
As per the MoU, Torrent will provide OPaL with sustained power supply, in synchronisation with OPaL's planned commissioning of its petrochemicals complex.
