Oracle to add 3,500 people to its workforce by May 2012

Enterprise software developoer Oracle said yesterday that it would add 3,500 people to its India workforce by May next year.
The company has around 21,000 employees in the country. Its workforce includes over 9,000 in Oracle Financial Services (formerly I-flex), while globally, the $35-billion company has 1.08 lakh employees.
Oracle's new recruits in India would mostly be in engineering and tech support, and also in sales and pre-sales.
According to Sandeep Mathur, Oracle India MD, the company had experienced tremendous momentum for its products globally, which reflected in its last quarter results. Oracle was among some of the companies whose performance exceeded investor expectations this quarter.
Oracle operates development centres in Bangalore and Hyderabad in India, with the Bangalore centre focused on Oracle's core application development tools, server and platform technologies, and the Hyderabad centre on e-business applications.
According to Mathur, telecom, banking & finance, and government sectors represented big opportunities in India.
Oracle, said it would vigourously promote its recruitment drive through social media like Facebook, twitter, Linkedin, YouTube and others.
