PepsiCo spreads HIV / AIDS awareness during Ganesh Chaturthi
24 Sep 2010
Continuing its endeavour to raise awareness about HIV / AIDS, PepsiCo India used the platform of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations to further the cause at its Duke's plant in Chembur, Mumbai.
PepsiCo has been imparting HIV AIDS awareness since 2005 in India and was the recipient of the president's corporate award for business response to HIV/AIDS in 2008.
Visitors at the plant's Ganesh pandal were given quick bytes of HIV awareness such as counselling centres, helpline numbers, and symptoms of HIV / AIDS and STI's, along with Lord Ganesha's blessings and prasad.
PepsiCo was able to reach out to 5.63 lakh people during 11 days of the festival.
A HIV testing mobile van was stationed near the premises, encouraging people to get themselves tested.
Street plays highlighting the message, spot videos and clips were used to spread awareness to all Ganesh patrons at the pandal. A HIV positive person recounted her life experience at the event.
