Mumbai: Patni Computer Systems Ltd., India's leading IT services company, completed a decade of successful operations in Pune. On the eve of the milestone occasion, Patni announced its plans to ramp up its operations in Pune by setting up a new facility to accommodate 2000 seats. The company has earmarked an investment of Rs100 crore for this initiative.
In addition to the proposed development centre, Patni is also on the lookout for 15 acres of land to build a campus, thus ensuring consistent growth in the Pune region.
Patni commenced its Pune operations in 1995 and since then has grown to more than 1,900 employees, contributing 21 per cent of Patni's overall revenues in 2004. Last year the Pune operations added 600 employees, over one-third of which came from Patni's Cymbal acquisition.
Speaking on the eve of the 10-year celebrations, Vijay Khare, Sr. VP, Patni, said, "In the last 10 years we have continuously invested in physical infrastructure, domain capabilities and new service lines in Pune, to ensure our consistent growth. Our Pune operations have been key to the overall company growth especially in the Insurance vertical. With the Cymbal acquisition, we now have a dedicated ODC at Pune servicing one of the largest telecom companies in the US. Going forward, our Pune centre will be strategic to our overall growth."
