CESC posts Rs126 crore net profit after tax for quarter ended September

CESC, the RPG group flagship company announced results for the quarter ended 30 Sept 2009.
The company posted a net profit after tax that rose 1.61 per cent to Rs126 crore of the quarter the ended on 30 September 2009 as against Rs124 crore for the previous year.
The company's total income surged 25.31 per cent from Rs786 crore for the quarter ended 30 September 2008 to Rs985 crore for the quarter that ended 30 September 2009.
The company's net sales increased 26.17 per cent to Rs964 crore from Rs7,640 million in the same quarter in the previous year.
The company's earnings stood at Rs10.09 a share as compared to Rs9.94 a share – growth of 1.50 per cent over the previous year.
CESC generates and distributes electricity to Kolkata and adjoining areas. It has two million consumers and a generation capacity of 1,000 MW.
The company generates and distributes electricity within the licensed area of 567 sqkm. in Kolkata and around it. It provides electricity to nearly two million customers and has a generating capacity of about 1,000 MW.
