RIL to take delivery of two Bell 412 choppers for offshore work
16 Nov 2007
Mumbai: Reliance Industries is all set to take delivery of two Bell 412 helicopters in the second week of December. The machines are expected to play an important role in the hunt for oil, especially as RIL has increased its oil exploration acreage on both coasts of India over the years.
RIL is likely to boost the size of its fleet as its offshore activities grow. So far, the company leases its machines from other operators. It is learnt that RIL has floated tenders, inviting bids to operate and maintain the new machines. Initially, a third-party operator will maintain the two new Bell choppers.
RIL is also expected to soon begin exploratory work in its blocks in the Middle East, but the focus will remain on the development of the Krishna-Godavari field, where it has struck large reserves since 2002. The field is currently under development, and is expected to start production in the second half of next year.
