Reliance ranked 13th top global energy company
03 Nov 2010
Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has improved its global ranking among energy companies to the 13th, rising from 25th last year and substantially increasing its asset base from $37.19 billion to $55.94 billion last year with a near 50 per cent increase in revenues.
Reliance is also well on its way to the global top 10 if BP or any other western majors were to fall out of the top ten, energy and metals strategists Platt said in its latest report.
Profitability of Reliance, however, remains low in relation to its asset base and revenues.
Regulated prices in the domestic market may hold Reliance back, Platt said.
Indian and Chinese companies dominate Asian energy rankings, according to Platts.
Ten Indian companies also made it to the '2010 Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings', one more than in the previous year.
