Renault completes 25 years of its exclusive partnership with Cannes Film Festival

Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO of Renault, will be climbing the famous red-carpet stairs of the Cannes Film Festival (also known as the Palais des Festivals) to attend the screening on 24 May. For the 2008 event held from May 14 to 25, Renault will be providing a luxury fleet to transport actors and personalities to and from the red carpet stairs.
Renault has been associated with the Cannes Film Festival since 1983 with number of its models featuring in the festival over the years. The Renault fleet, which started with 15 in 1983 at Cannes, now provides 100 vehicles, including the Vel Satis,Laguna Estate and Espace. Other models such as the Renault 25 and the special series Renault Safrane ''Palme d'Or'',designed to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the partnership have also featured at Cannes. The auto maker's association with cinema dates back to 1899, when Louis Renault's Voiturette, became the first Renault to appear in a film.Since then, many Renaults have starred in cinemas including the Renault Primaquatre Torpedo in And God Created Woman in 1956, and more recently, Vel Satis and Espace in Rush Hour III.
Currently, Renault works with film and TV producers through an active policy of partnerships and product placement. Renault models feature in Arnaud Desplechin's film Un Conte de Noël, which has been selected for the official competition at this year's festival.
