Bosch inaugurates 'On Track' event for engineering students
09 Oct 2009
Bosch today flagged off ''On Track'', a programme for engineering talent in India, to be held over three days at its premises in Bangalore. The event will allow students to experience first hand technological innovations that Bosch is renowned for and to get practical insights into the professional life of an engineer.
About 850 students and 50 professors from 30 colleges and universities across India have been invited to enjoy this great opportunity to experience first hand the technologies Bosch has pioneered and to get into personal contact with Bosch associates.
''On Track'' is a collaborative effort of all Bosch companies in India, its name resulting from the first event of this kind conducted at Chennai Race Track in March 2008.
At ''On Track'' students will enjoy opportunities to sit in cars showcasing Bosch products in operating mode, like environment friendly diesel and gasoline fuel injection system, fuel saving start-stop system and latest car navigation systems.
Tata Nano cars will demonstrate Bosch innovation in the low priced vehicle segment and will provide a road test on India's young automotive star for all visitors. Utilising simulators and product models, Bosch engineers will explain development and functionality of anti-lock braking systems (ABS), electronic stability program and 'Start-Stop'. In face-to-face discussions they will also emphasise their personal contribution to these products in their day-to-day work and inform the visitors about professional and personal requirements for a career within Bosch.
Tours to common-rail-system manufacturing plant will provide further close insights into comparative advantages of Bosch technology as well as into tasks and responsibilities of production engineers. The big variety of Bosch products and divisions are shown at the Bosch Knowledge Center and explained by young associates. Exhibited vintage cars with Bosch products, the oldest one a Mercedes built in 1928, allow a glance into Bosch history and the company founder's close cooperation with automotive pioneers.
