Fortis to invest over Rs1,100 crore in integrated healthcare delivery system

New Delhi: Fortis Healthcare Limited, a Ranbaxy promoted group company, announced its entry into the National Capital Region today, with extensive plans to introduce six hospitals in next five years with a total investment outlay of over Rs1,100 crore. The first of the Fortis Hospitals in the NCR, built at a project outlay of Rs100 crore at Noida, will be launched shortly. This will be followed by the launch of Fortis Jessaram Hospital in Pusa Road. The other hospitals will be in different parts of Delhi and Gurgaon.

Fortis aims to establish an integrated health delivery system in India offering comprehensive health services addressing all needs from minor ailments to high-end surgical procedures. Each of the hospitals will have multi-speciality capabilities and be a centre of excellence in one or more super speciality like orthopedics, neuro sciences, oncology, cardiac sciences, etc. and will draw patients from across the country as well as from overseas.

All hospitals across the region will be linked through a strong IT backbone, which will allow all Fortis hospitals to access the cumulative capabilities of its internal medical fraternity and its knowledge base.

Speaking on the expansion plans, Shivinder Mohan Singh, joint managing director, Fortis, said "Over the next few years, it is our endeavour to create newer and better benchmarks in the delivery of healthcare in India, comparable to other developed countries of the world. We feel our brand edge would be our acknowledged patient-centricity and clinical excellence. With our focus on North India, we aim to increase the number of beds to over 4,000 in the next five years from the existing 570 beds."

To accentuate its extensive plans for expansion and growth, Fortis also launched its new logo today. Giving a preview of the new logo of the group, which was formally launched by finance minister P Chidambaram, Harpal Singh, chairman, Fortis, said, "Fortis has established itself north of Delhi in a very short period of time by providing benefits to patients through a combination of technology, innovation and empathy. We shall endeavour to strike a fine balance between business objectives and community relevance. By our constant search for excellence, we commit ourselves to delivering exceptional value to patients and to the community".
