Rolta India records impressive growth

The net profit was Rs 31.20 crore as against the net profit of Rs 15.50 crore in the fourth quarter ended 31 December 2001, recording an impressive sequential growth of 101.3 per cent. During the corresponding first quarter of the last financial year ended December 2001, the company had achieved a total income of Rs 80.22 crore and net profit of Rs 30.70 crore.
The earning per share (EPS) on an annualised basis is Rs 19.60 as compared to Rs 16.56 for the last financial year. The cash earning per share (CEPS) on an annualised basis works out to Rs 27.20 as against Rs 22.30 for the previous financial year ended 31 December 2001.
During the course of the company’s progress, Rolta has been recognised in India and internationally for its achievements. The company has been super ranked third among the top 1,000 Indian companies by Business Standard in March 2002, based on CAGR across various financial performance parameters and market capitalisation between 1994-95 and 2000-01. Rolta was also named among the 200 best companies in the world by Forbes Global (revenues up to US $500 million) in October 2001.
The company has recently inaugurated advanced engineering software and e-services centre in Atlanta, USA. This new building, spread over 26,000 sq ft, will be the new US headquarters of Rolta International Inc. In order to further strengthen its presence on the American continent, Rolta has recently set up Rolta Canada Ltd. In addition, steps are at an advanced stage for setting up a subsidiary in the UK.
The company’s Internet service division, RoltaNet, Mumbai’s No 1 Internet service, is in an advanced stage of launching RoltaTel, an Internet-access service that will allow voice-grade Internet telephony.
