Samsung launches Nexus S, five Galaxy series handsets

Samsung Electronics has launched the Nexus S smartphone in India, priced at Rs29,590.
Developed in partnership with Google, Nexus S is powered by the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system and 1 Ghz mega processor.
Ranjit Yadav, country head, Samsung Mobile and IT, said that the Nexus S is the first handset from Samsung Mobiles that features a 4-inch super clear curved LCD screen and near field communication (NFC) technology.
NFC technology allows users to read information from nearby tags that are embedded with NFC chips.
The smartphone also features a 5 megapixel rear facing camera and camcorder with flash, as well as a VGA front facing camera, 16GB internal memory and a 1500mAH battery, portable WiFi hotspot and other Android features.
Samsung also launched five new Galaxy smartphones based on the Android 2.2 platform - Galaxy Pro, Ace, Fit, Pop, and the Galaxy Pop CDMA.
With the launch, Samsung's Android powered smartphone range now comprises of 10 handsets, 15 in all including its bada range of smartphones.
Yadav said that the company was looking at a 40 per cent market share in the fast growing smartphone market in India this year from the current 15 per cent.
