27 Oct 2016
Samsung's next flagship smartphone, Galaxy S8 is expected to launch on the side-lines of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona on 26 February,gadgets.ndtv.com reported citing rumours. The rumour was also corroborated by a phone tipster from China according to the site. The tipster added that the handset would be offered for sale from March.
According to leaked details on China-based micro-blogging site Weibo, the Galaxy S8 would feature a 5.5-inch 4K (2160x3840 pixels) Super Amoled display with an impressive pixel density of 806ppi. The tipster added that the Galaxy S8 would be powered by the company's in-house Exynos 8895 SoC.
Also, along the lines of some high-end smartphones, the Galaxy S8 would come with massive 6GB of RAM. Samsung's Galaxy S8 would not be the company's first smartphone featuring 6GB of RAM; the Galaxy C9 Pro was recently unveiled with the same memory.
According to an earlier report, the Galaxy S8 would be offered with a 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel dual-rear camera setup. The camera on the Galaxy S8 was believed to be able to click decent images in low-light. The Samsung Galaxy S8 would also not feature the signature home button seen on earlier flagship Galaxy phones.
The smartphone would also come with an NFC and MST support for Samsung Pay and would have an 80 per cent screen-to-body ratio BGR India reported citing a teaser shared by Twitter user @Ricciolo1.
According to another leak earlier, the Galaxy S8 would feature a dual-camera setup at the back, which was likely to be home grown and engineered by SEMCO. Other reports also indicated that the dual camera setup would feature a pair of 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel cameras.
Though the exact details of the working of the dual camera setup was not known, according to commentators, it could be something similar to Honor 8 or Mi 5s Plus, where there was one RGB (color) sensor and one monochrome sensor.
