ŠkodaAuto drives its SUV Yeti into India

The Indian arm of Czech auto maker, now owned by Volkswagen, ŠkodaAuto India, today introduced its first sports utility vehicle in the country, the Škoda Yeti.
Powered by a 2.0 liter TDI CR engine, the Yeti generates a maximum power of 140 bhp at 4200 rpm. It comes with a fully synchronised six-speed manual transmission, high-pressure direct injection technology, and offers a mileage of 17.67Kmph as per Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), the company said in a statement.
The SUV is available in two versions - the Ambiente, priced (ex showroom) at Rs14.98 lakh in Maharashtra and Rs15.40 lakh in Delhi and the more upmarket Elegance at Rs16.18 lakh in Maharashtra and Rs16.62 lakh in Delhi.
''In the compact SUV segment, the Yeti has set new standards internationally, due to its off-road design features, high quality materials, intelligent ergonomics and outstanding equipment. We are confident that Škoda Yeti will alter the perspective associated with traditional SUVs that consume more fuel and emit high emissions and offer a completely new SUV concept for India,'' said Kuehl, board member and director, sales and marketing, ŠkodaAuto India.
The Yeti is available in mato brown, candy white, magic black, brilliant silver and aqua blue.
With the launch of Škoda Yeti, the Indian subsidiary has expanded its product range in the country. Skoda's product portfolio now consists of Octavia, Laura, Fabia, Superb and Yeti.
Škoda has been operating in India since November 2001 as a subsidiary of SkodaAuto a. s. Czech Republic (Volkswagen Group), one of the fastest growing car manufacturers in Europe.
With a network of 66 dealerships and seven boutique showrooms across the country, the company has sold over 96267 units since November 2001.
