Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda Auto today announced the launch of an upgraded model of its SUV, Yeti, with a base price of Rs18.99 lakh.
Skoda says it has now extensively redesigned the Yeti to adapt the brand's new design language.
The Yeti will be offered with two diesel engines for the Indian market - the 2.0 TDI/81 kW mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a 2.0 TDI/103 kW all-wheel drive fitted as standard mated to a manual six-speed gearbox.
The one with a two-wheel drive carries a price tag of Rs18.99 lakh (ex-showroom) Delhi and the four-wheel drive would cost Rs20.54 lakh. The Yeti comes in the single top-of-the-line Elegance trim for both models, which makes the SUV a very well equipped vehicle.
The high-pressure direct injection technology system offers optimum performance with great mileage of 17.72 kmpl in the 2 wheel drive 81 kW engine and 17.67 kmpl in the 103 kW all-wheel drive versions.
The company currently sells four diesel cars in India, and does not seem to have any further plans to make an addition to its catalogue. Rather, the company plans to revamp its after sales service with the existing product range to boost its image and sales.
The interiors of the vehicle are technically sound, complete with features like one touch power windows, electrically folding ORVMs with memory, rear window defogger and ORVMs, climate control, cruise control, electrically adjustable driver's seat among others.
Underlining its commitment to safety, the SUV features front and side airbags for front passengers as also curtain airbags for front and rear passengers, ABS, EBD, ASR, ESC, EBC, EDL and MSR. The Skoda Yeti also comes with a five-star Euro-NCAP safety rating, which makes it one of the safest cars currently present in the market.
The Yeti was launched earlier this week in Mumbai, where it would be available ex showroom at a price of Rs18.63 lakhs (ex-Maharashtra).
The company said in a press release:
Skoda's versatile SUV is a straightforward representative of its segment, a Sports Utility Vehicle with character and simplicity.
