Spice group to sell 10 million handsets in a year

Spice Group has entered into a strategic partnership with Huawei to launch the S Huawei brand in the India market. The overall target is to sell 10 million handsets in the current fiscal, including 7.5 million 2G handsets from domestic and international sales.
Spice intends to launch 7-10 series of handsets under this partnership in the near future and sell about 1 million handsets in this fiscal. The first in a series of 3G smart phone Ascend Y 100 has recently been launched in the market.
Spice has also tied up with Google for Android handsets. The company aims to sell about 1.5 million Android 2G WiFi and 3G handsets in partnership with Google.
''The group today has established itself as a leading solution provider. These partnerships are key drivers to expand our global footprints. Globally, we are growing at a fast pace. Today, more than 50 per cent of the revenue comes from the international market. In Indonesia, we have crossed $1 billion revenue as of June 30,'' Spice Group Global Chairman Bhupendra Kumar Modi said.
At present, the company has 1,250 retail stores in these countries.
''We plan to increase this number to 5,000 stores across India, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and parts of Africa,'' Modi added.
The company also launched its Ascend Y 100, a smartphone in the country. The phone runs on Android 2.3 Ginger Bread platform with an 800 MHz processor, has a stylish 2.8'' touch screen with premium touch panels, sleek and compact design.
It comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera, 1050mAh battery offering talking time of 300 minutes and standby time up to 300 hours.
The company has also partnered Airtel (in Delhi & Mumbai), Aircel (Hyderabad & Bangalore) and with Docomo (Jaipur) to offer free 3G data plan with the handset for three months.
