Symantec expands distribution network

The California -based Symantec Corporation has expanded its distribution network in India by appointing 15 value-added resellers (VARs). Symantec is the world leader in utility software for personal and business computing as also for internet security technology.
In addtioton, Symantec has entered into contracts with two large OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) HCL and Zenith Ltd to market its Norton Antivirus package. The VAR and OEM network will ensure a wider reach for the company in India. Ms Kerrie Ann Turner, country manager-India, Symantec Asia Pacific said, "The VAR channel is integral to Symantec's distribution strategy not only in India but also the world across. With the signing of the OEM contracts, we have taken another step towards greater penetration of Symantec's products in Indian market," said Ms Turner.
The newly -appointed VARs will provide technical service support to corporate clients. By the end of this year, Symantec will provide its end users a dedicated telephone technical support from Mumbai.
