Tata Swach has introduced a premium non-electric water purification system,  the  Tata Swach Silver Boost.

Tata Swach is the water purification brand of the 7-year old Tata Chemicals.

Non-electric purifiers are crucial for the developing countries which have maximum incidences of water-borne diseases.

While chlorine disinfection is the most commonly used technology for water purification, it only provides protection from bacteria and virus, and does not protect from the harmful cyst – cryptosporidium - which causes health-related issues such as substantial weight loss, nausea and even malnutrition - highly detrimental to growing children.

Other non-electric purification technologies which use only membrane purification do not provide protection against virus which may cause harmful diseases like polio, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis E, the company said in a statement.

Over and above protection from water-borne diseases like diarrhoea, dysentery, jaundice and cholera, the newly-introduced Tata Swach Silver Boost combines the power of MF membrane with Silver nanotechnology to make water microbiologically safe from virus, bacteria and parasites / cyst along with safety from algae, fungi, rust, metal particles and turbidity. It provides double protection from bacteria through Tata Swach Bulb and Tata Swach MF membrane

Ashvini Hiran, chief operating officer, consumer product business, Tata Chemicals said, ''With the launch of Tata Swach Silver Boost water purifier, we aim to offer one of the best in class product to our consumers, equipped with multi-stage purification including MF membrane that not only removes impurities, bacteria and virus, but also helps in the removal of cyst thereby ensuring optimum level of purity.''

Hiran says the dearth of pure drinking water is the root cause of many diseases.

"We have taken into consideration critical consumer insights while developing this product in order to give consumers a more enriching experience of water purification."

The futuristically-designed Tata Swach Silver Boost comes with host of consumer benefits like high purified water storage capacity of 14 litres, auto-shut off mechanism as well as direct-tap-fill, the statement added.

Tata Swach Silver Boost shall be available across all leading outlets at an attractive price-point of Rs2699.
