Tata Motors' global sales rise 50 per cent at 79,819 vehicles in May

The Tata Motors group today reported a 50 per cent year-on-year jump in its global sales, with 79,819 vehicles sold in May 2010.

The Tata Motors group includes Tata, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles along with distributed brands in India, and the UK brands Jaguar and Land Rover.

Cumulative sales of the group so far in the current fiscal (April-May 2010) were up 52 per cent at 157,548 units compared with sales in the corresponding period in 2009-10, Tata Motors said in a release.

Sales of all commercial vehicles rose 45 per cent to 36,689 units in May 2010. Cumulative sales so far in the current fiscal were up 42 per cent at 71,159 units.

Sales of passenger vehicles rose 54 per cent to 43,130 units in May 2010 while cumulative sales for the April-May 2010 period rose 60 per cent to 86,389 units.

Tata passenger vehicle sales, including those distributed, rose 42 per cent to 24,077 units in May 2010 while cumulative sales for April-May 2010 rose 56 per cent to 49,427 units.
