Tata Motors launches Tata Safari Storme Explorer SUV at Rs10,86,000
24 Aug 2013
Tata Motors yesterday launched its latest in the Explorer SUV edition, Tata Safari Storme Explorer, which offers additional features to suit those with a taste for the rugged outdoors.
For starters, the new Explorer Edition model is different and to appreciate it one needs to get up close to check out the sturdier front nudge guard, the 'Explorer Edition' decals on the bonnet and on the side of the vehicle. Door visors on the special edition model have been specially designed to allow occupants to keep windows slightly open at higher speeds.
There are also the more utilitarian aspects that go with this particular Safari - a customised cycle carrier, a cargo basket for added storage space and of course the roof-mounted canopylets that let the vehicle double as a make-shift home in the wilderness.
The new Explorer has also undergone an upgradation in the interiors department with a new 2-DIN TouchScreen Infotainment System that supports iPod, iPhone, USB sticks, memory cards and portable hard disk connectivity. The on-screen reverse parking assist feature coupled with a robust navigation system makes for an excellent Explorer Edition driver assistance package.
The Safari Storme packs a 2.2-litre VariCOR turbocharged engine with VTT (Variable Turbine Technology) capable of 140PS power & 320Nm torque delivery.
The new Explorer Edition, which is on offer at Rs10,86,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi) would be available at all Tata Motors showrooms.
According to PTI, the launch of the variant comes at time when Tata Motors is looking to boost sales in a segment that has been sluggish.
Tata Motors' sales fell 59.59 per cent to 8,546 units in July this year, as against sales during the same period of 2012. The auto major launched the Tata Safari Storme in Nepal earlier this month.
