Tata Power generation capacity stands at 11,974 mn units in FY15

India's largest integrated power company Tata Power today said that its standalone generation capacity stands at 11,974 million units (MU) in FY15.
Tata Power, together with all its subsidiaries and jointly controlled entities, has an installed generation capacity of 8,750 MW from various fuel sources - coal, gas and oil, hydroelectric, wind and solar PV, and waste heat recovery.
In FY15, Coastal Gujarat Power Limited (CGPL), Tata Power's wholly-owned subsidiary, reported total generation of 26,578 MUs in FY15, while Maithon plant reported 6328 MUs.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, generated 296 MUs. In clean and green energy, Tata Power's hydro power stations generated 1,443 MUs, wind farms generated 635 MUs, and solar plants recorded generation of 4 MUs.
Anil Sardana, MD and CEO, Tata Power, said, ''We have been consistently achieving significant milestones and will continue to enhance our generation portfolio. We are glad that all our operations have performed well and have demonstrated a robust growth.
"We will continue in our endeavors to further strengthen our operations with excellence and optimally utilise our resources to boost the generation capacity to 18000 MW and 4000 MW of distribution by 2022,'' Sardana added.
In the clean energy sector Tata Power has a gross installed capacity of 1,383 MW.
Currently, Tata Power has a total operating capacity of 511 MW from wind farms and 56 MW in solar generation.
In addition, it has 576 MW of hydro and 240 MW from waste gas-based generation.
Tata Power recently commissioned two units (63 MW eac h) of its 126 MW Dagachhu Hydro Power Corporation (DHPC) in Bhutan (See: Tata Power commissions first unit of 126 MW Dagachhu hydropower project in Bhutan).
It has entered into a share purchase agreement (SPA) with Tata Africa Holdings (SA) (Pty) Ltd. for formalising the acquisition of their 50 per cent shareholding in Itezhi Tezhi Power Corporation Ltd (ITPC)
It has signed a memorandum of understanding with Russian Direct Investment Fund to increase energy investment between India and Russia,.
