New Delhi: Tata Steel has ranked sixth in Fortune's World's Most Admired Companies.

The company is the only one from India to make it to the top 10 in Fortune magazine's 2011 List.

Tata Steel has been ranked sixth in the 'Industry-Metals' category. It moved from 12th to 6th rank in the third consecutive year of nomination.

The annual survey, conducted by Fortune and global management consulting firm Hay Group, is based on a poll of top executives, directors and financial analysts, to identify the companies that enjoy the strongest reputations within their industries and across industries.

According to Gaurav Lahiri, managing director, Hay Group India said, It is the only Indian company to feature in the top 10 in any sector in the Fortune ranking for two consecutive years."

Lahiri said, the survey rates companies both overall and relative their industry peers by executives, directors and analysts. "This uncovers the business practices that make these companies highly regarded among their peers," he said.
