Toyota Motor Corp, the world's biggest car maker, today said that it will recall around 185,000 vehicles worldwide, over a flaw in the electric power steering system that could make the steering heavier.

Toyota YarisThe recall comes a month after Toyota said that it would recall about 242,000 hybrid vehicles globally, including the best-selling Prius, due to a brake design flaw.

The Japanese carmaker, which has made a record number of recalls from 2009 onwards, is now recalling Yaris models made between November 2010 and March 2012, and versions of the Verso-S, manufactured from August 2010 to August 2011.

Toyota manufactures the Yaris at its facility in Valenciennes, France.

The recalls include about 130,000 vehicles in Japan, 7,050 vehicles in Germany, 7,400 in Italy, about 7,000 in France and a few more in other countries like the US and the UK.

Short circuits could be caused in the vehicles by water droplets forming on certain wires in the power steering control module. As a result, the power steering assist could be suspended, making the steering heavier, Toyota said in a statement.

No accidents or injuries have been reported from the problem, Toyota said.

Toyota will replace the power steering control module, which is expected to be done free of costs.
