Mumbai: In a bid to gain a strong foothold in the expanding DTH market in India, Tata Sky Ltd, the joint venture from the Tata Group and Star Television, today announced a new revised monthly tariff, with reduced prices. Along with the reduction in the monthly subscription, the company has also launched new add-on packages to increase choice for its subscribers

According to the new revised plans, the 'Family Pack' is now available at Rs200 per month instead of Rs250. This pack offers around 90 leading Hindi, regional, kids, infotainment and news channels. Similarly, the prices of all other base packages including the annual packs have also been reduced.

The top-end 'Super Saver' pack offering over 110 channels including English channels, is now available for only Rs260 per month while the annual pack for the same is available for Rs 2600 ( monthly price of Rs217)

Subscribers also have a choice to include or drop premium sports channels for any chosen period , rather than paying for them all year round, according to the new plan

Vikram Kaushik, managing director & CEO, Tata Sky Ltd. said, ''In a record period of 20 months only, we have crossed the two million connection mark making Tata Sky the fastest growing DTH platform across the globe. To ensure that every TV household in the country has access to digital quality entertainment at an affordable price, we have reduced the price of our current subscription packages.

"Further, we have introduced new monthly packages to provide our subscribers with the flexibility of subscribing to select premium channels, only when it is relevant to them, rather than paying for them through the year,''  he added.

Currently, Tata Sky satellite television service provides over 150 TV channels and interactive services in DVD quality picture across India.
