New management team announced at Tata Sons
04 Nov 2016
Tata Sons has brought in a new management team, following the departure of chairman Cyrus Mistry on 24 October.
The appointments follow the dismantling of the group executive council (GEC).
Now, the group human resources responsibilities will be overseen by S Padmanabhan, in addition to his existing responsibilities of leading the Tata business excellence group.
Mukund Rajan will continue to be responsible for ethics & sustainability, with additional responsibility of overseeing the operations of Tata Sons' overseas representative offices. These offices are in the US, Singapore, Dubai and China.
Harish Bhat, in addition to his responsibilities for marketing and customer centricity, will also be responsible for managing the Tata Brand. In the interim, he will oversee the functions of Strategy and business development.
Gopichand Katragadda will continue to be the group chief technology officer, while Sanjay Singh will oversee the Public Affairs function out of the Delhi office.
Earlier, the Group's GEC members Nirmalya Kumar, N S Rajan and Madhu Kannan have resigned, which Tata Sons on Friday said was to explore options outside the group.
The five-member GEC, formed by Mistry soon in 2012, was disbanded along with his ouster.
The other two members are Tata Group Brand Custodian Mukund Rajan, formerly with Tata Teleservices, and Tata group veteran Harish Bhat, who was inducted into the GEC in 2014.
London Business school professor and strategist Nirmalys Kumar was inducted into the GEC in 2013, while Kannan, previously with Bombay Stock Exchange, was handling Business Development and Public Affairs in the GEC for the group.
