BSNL awards TCS multi-year $140-million deal

The world''s seventh largest telecommunications company and India''s largest telecom service provider BSNL has awarded a mission-critical multi-year engagement to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
For TCS, the engagement with BSNL has an approximate deal value of Rs574 crore ($140 million) over a multi-year period.
During this transformational engagement, TCS will provide BSNL with a comprehensive range of telecom services to enable complete transformation of existing systems and processes to next generation convergent billing system.
TCS will lead manage the overall engagement along with a large team of hardware, software and application partners.
"The engagement with BSNL is testimony to TCS'' ability to help customers experience certainty by leveraging our superior capabilities in systems integration using cutting edge technologies as well as its strong domain knowledge in the telecom sector," said S. Ramadorai, CEO and MD, TCS.
The multi-year engagement involves setting up of complex data networks across the vast BSNL footprint in North and West of India and includes deployment of operational support systems (OSS) and business support systems (BSS) components such as customer relationship management, billing, mediation, directory enquiry among others.
The overall engagement involves managing the development, deployment and operations of services.

prior experience of similar such engagements in order to deliver the next generation
of services to the biggest telecom service provider in India and help BSNL deliver
certainty to its end users," said N Chandrasekaran, head, global sales and
operations, TCS.
