TCS - state government JV to launch Maharashtra Online portal
11 Mar 2010
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has entered into a joint venture with the Maharashtra government to launch "Maharahstra Online", an internet-based, end-to-end citizen service portal across the state.
Maharashtra Online will be a 10-year JV with TCS holding a 74-per cent per cent equity stake and the government of Maharashtra holding the remaining 26 per cent.
The project will be rolled out on the current IT infrastructure of the state government, a TCS release said today.
The Maharashtra Online portal will be a 'one-stop-shop' with end-to-end online processing and delivery of any citizen's request for services by the respective authorities at state, district and taluka level headquarters, a company release said.
The joint venture would roll out around 40 citizen services across 15 departments in the first year of operation and eventually increase this to 300 different services. The services will be available in Marathi and English languages.
To ensure seamless processing of requests from citizens of the state and provide a high level of service delivery, the citizen service portal (www.Mahaonline.gov.in) will be integrated at the back-end with DigiGOV, the state-of-the-art framework solution developed by TCS.
