Airbnb to install chargers for Tesla Model S in some rental locations

Joining forces with Tesla Motors, home sharing startup Airbnb will soon install chargers for Model S cars in a select batch of rental locations.
To be eligible, Airbnb hosts need to have their entire home up for rent, and additionally, a history of over five bookings and an average rating of more than four stars, Venture Beat reported.
Those selected would receive the $750 charger at no cost to them, although they would be obliged to pay for the installation, which could cost up to $ 900.
Tesla owners would be able to charge their car for the night for $10.
The move is part of Tesla's push to make it easier for owners of the electric car to travel without concern over the vehicle's range.
Tesla would install free stations to hosts at 30 ''high-end'' Airbnb properties, the companies said Thursday in an e-mailed statement.
Tesla claims its Model S cars can drive 208 to 270 miles before running out of battery power.
According to San Francisco-based Airbnb, it planned to work with Tesla to offer more charging stations going forward. The marketing campaign's slogan is ''Be free. Go far.''
Tesla, the smallest and youngest publicly-held US automaker, faced major capital spending as it expanded globally and built a large battery factory near Reno, Nevada.
The Palo Alto, California-based company, raised over $730 million in a secondary stock offering this month to give itself a cash cushion.
