Twitter gives new look to its website

Twitter announced yesterday that it had given a new look to its website to resemble its Android and iOS mobile apps.
According to the microblogging site, it was set to roll out the new look for the Twitter.com website, which included a white navigation bar, inspired by the site's mobile apps.
Cnet reports, the new look would have a left-hand side bar, displaying a user's header photo in the upper left-hand corner, and an improvised `Who to Follow` and `Trends` sections listed underneath.
Thanks to the latest design, users also get to add accent colour to their profile.
The company, which recently went public reported that 76 per cent of its users were accessing Twitter from their mobile devices each month, which showed that the mobile interface had become a familiar and preferred option among its over 230 million strong user base.
The San Francisco-based company said, "We're now rolling out a refreshed http://twitter.com reflecting the look and feel of our iOS and Android apps."
The change aligns with increasing preference among users for visiting social networks and other online properties from mobile devices rather than laptop or desktop computers.
According to technology website TechCrunch, the new look was much similar to an older version. The micro-blogging site was reportedly in the testing phase of the new design as far back as November last year, when designing a lighter and flatter design.
The new revamp closely follows the unveiling of the Jelly app by Twitter co-founder Biz Stone recently. The app which is available free for iOS and Android, allows users to tap into their online social networks for answers about things they see. The app syncs with Twitter and Facebook accounts, and lets users to obtain answers from friends who use the app.
The micro-blogging social network founded in 2006, by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Evan Williams and Biz Stone, boasts a user base of over 200 million users and a workforce of 2000 employees.
