Pune: Uberall Solutions (India) Ltd, a fast-emerging enterprise solutions provider, has bagged the order to implement a multi-module online materials procurement system for Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Ltd (TBW). ProcNet TM, the completely customisable solution, has been devised especially to suit TBW’s diverse procurement needs.

The TBW procurement system will be implemented nationally in phases. The first phase will start with a small group of supplier partners. The new net-based procurement system, ProcNet TM, is designed to ride over the existing Baan ERP system and other engineering packages at TBW.

Using XML technology with regular databases, the procurement system will function like an encapsulated ERP system for procurement. Integration with the company’s existing ERP system is being carried out through bridge functions. The system includes the latest security features, including encryption and secure servers, audit trails and multilevel access control.

Says Uberall Solutions director Parimal Chanchani: "Extranets will become the single lasting major milestone that the communication revolution has brought about." He has reason to be upbeat. With markets getting more competitive, Uberall has a healthy order-book for enterprise application integration systems, ranging from ERP, supply chain management to complaint management and HR management systems online.

The system, under development by Uberall, enables online requests for quotations, drawings, conferences, updates, bid evaluations, load equalisations, fair price evaluations, ordering, progress reporting and payment status. With this system the company expects to cut down its lead-time for certain subassemblies significantly.

The system is highly specific to the requirements of the energy industry, as it is largely drawings intensive, where several interactions between the company and its supply partners are based on engineering drawings.

Says TBW general manager P I Sudhir: "The time has come to leverage the combination of the available technology with the available best practice — both of which are native to TBW — into tangible, financially-beneficial effect to our customers."

In addition to the procurement network system, Uberall has also been commissioned to build a complete service and support site for TBW’s customers that will allow users to interact as a community and receive support online for common issues and ordering of spares. The main website of the company is also being completely redone with emphasis on actual marketing and sales of the company’s products.

The new website will incorporate some of the latest technologies in web programming, allowing users a complete interactive experience, as they search for the right solution for their energy requirements.
