The Scandinavian luxury designs seem to be getting to a new level with every passing day. The Volvo S80 and XC90 Executive has been created for people who are looking for an uncompromising ability to relax on their way to work or back home. Such cars have a very high demand on comfort, aesthetics and materials.
The new features on the Volvo S80 and XC90 comprise of the massage function in the front seats, centre console cover in soft leather, 8" wide VGA LCD screens integrated into the rear of the front seat headrests, an exclusive analogue clock in the S80, hand-sewn leather door handles in the XC90, a well lit refrigerator with updated crystal glasses with the Executive emblem engraved, updated upholstery in perforated soft hide and additional ambient lighting in the door panels and other storage compartments.
''Our surveys show that customers attach particular importance to seating comfort and the quality of the leather,''Lennart Stegland, managing director of Volvo special vehicles said. ''This is the reason why we are now updating the Volvo S80 and XC90 Executive with a massage function and ventilation in the front seats, along with exceptionally soft hide in all the seats.''
He also added, ''What is more, we have enhanced the aura of craftsmanship in the stitching and materials and added several new details, for instance an exclusive analogue clock.''
Volvo intends to reinforce their positions in the luxury-car segment with the help of the newly added features.
Maria Thunberg, interior designer at Volvo Cars stated, ''We aim to create a balance in the interior design between the modern Volvo and the classic executive tradition. Luxury cars are often conservative, with many components and heavy materials. The Volvo S80 and XC90 Executive respect that style but also add features that are typical of Scandinavian design. The clean function, the ever-present aura of craftsmanship. These are characteristics that have been emphasised even more clearly in connection with the 2009 update.''
Apart from luxury Volvo has raised its level for the safety as well. The new collision warning with auto brake feature enables the car to brake automatically if there is an imminent risk of collision with a moving or stationary vehicle.
