Volvo unveils new generation S60 and XC60 cars

Luxury carmaker Volvo Auto India is targeting a 20-fold sales expansion in India at 20,000 units per annum by 2020, for which it would debut new models and enhance its service network.
The company, which launched upgraded versions of top sellers S60 and XC60 - priced between Rs29.90 lakh and Rs46.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), today, has targeted unit sales of 1,000 in 2013.
Tomas Ernberg, managing director, Volvo Auto India, told PTI that the company was aiming to sell 20,000 units per annum in India by 2020.
He added, the company planned to enhance its product portfolio and its service network to achieve the desired results.
The company sold 811 units in India last year.
So far, it had sold a cumulative of 2,500 cars since it started selling cars in the country in 2007.
On the service network expansion, Ernberg said the company was planning to have around 40 dealerships by 2020 and by the end of the calendar year, it would have 15 dealerships in the country.
Volvo currently sells five models in India, including the S60 and XC60.
According to Ernberg, Volvo had taken its philosophy of 'Designed Around You' a step further, offering new generation S60 & XC60 with changes designed around customers' comfort and need.
The new S60 and XC60 come with new, more comfortable sport seats; three-spoke steering wheels that would now be accompanied by paddle shifters; LED Daytime Running Lights and dual exhaust tail pipes integrated among others.
The Laser Assisted Automatic Braking or city safety feature helped prevent collisions up to 50 km / hour and the laser based feature sensed emergency situations beforehand and pre-charged the brakes to increase the impact of braking or even deployed the brakes if in case they were not timely applied.
